Neil deGrasse Tyson

Longtime author of the popular column “Universe” in Natural History, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is the Frederick P. Rose Director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, as well as a recipient of fourteen honorary doctorates and the NASA Distinguished Service Medal. His earlier books include Origins: Fourteen Billion Years of Cosmic Evolu­tion (2005, coauthored with Donald Goldsmith), Death by Black Hole: And Other Cosmic Quandaries (2007), and The Pluto Files: The Rise and Fall of America’s Favorite Planet (2009), all published by W. W. Norton. Recently he began production of a new Cosmos television series, which will premier in the spring of 2013.
