Mac Griswold

A cultural landscape historian, Mac Griswold is also the author of Washington’s Gardens at Mount Vernon: Landscape of the Inner Man; The Golden Age of American Gardens: Proud Owners, Private Estates, 1890-1940; and Pleasures of the Garden: Images from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Sylvester Manor and most of its grounds are being transferred to a nonprofit organization, Sylvester Manor Educational Farm. The manor is open on Saturday afternoons in May and June, and more often during the summer, as well as by appointment. The plantation’s farm stand is open Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and there are many special events. Mac Griswold will read from her book and sign copies on August 17, 2013, between 1 and 4 p.m. See sylvestermanor.org.
